New K and W series SonyEricsson mobile Phones

SonyEricsson has released couple of new mobile phones under both Cyber-shot and Walkman families.

K810 and K550 are the new members in Cyber-shot family. K810 features a 3.2 mega-pixel camera including auto focus and Xenon flash. However, neither the looking nor the features are different with the current K800i model.

K550 is even worse, comes with a 2MP camera without flash. Please! We are in 2007 now. I have to say that SonyEricsson will pay for this. Does this decision will make the sales better? I doubt it will.

The new Walkman phone W880 and W610 aren't good looking either, well at least they kept the features of Walkman phone.

I'm very disappointed for these new '07 released models. As one of the leading mobile phone company, SonyEricsson will be hardly survive if they keep releasing its products without creative, new features like these ones.

Wii for WarioWare

After a month practicing wii tennis, finally there is a place to show my skill.

To celebrate Australian Open, and wii new game - WarioWare the smooth moves. Nintendo Australia held an event at macquarie Centre in Sydney for 4 days last week. It gives people the chance to experience the new WarioWare game, which it will release on the 25th January. More attractively, there were wii tennis competitions, the winner will get a copy of the new WarioWare game. The rule is simple: the person who wins the most games in a row within one hour competition time is the winner.

WarioWare is the next wii game that I'm going to have it. Thus, there is no other excuses could stop me going.

The world is small, but the Nintendo world is smaller. In the macquarie Nintendo site, I suprisely saw two of my Nintendo friends who all the way from Kincumber/Gosford. As well as the two champions of 2006 Nintendo connection tours which were held in Gosford and Sydney. I realised how tough the game would be. Players were only play one game against each other. Unfortunately, I lost to the winner on that day. However, I learnt some new tricks from the game.

(Nintendo event site at macquarie centre, Sydney)

One failure cannot stop me. I practiced those new tricks at home against computer and my friend until my tennis skill reached 2000. I went back to the Nintendo event site on the second day to see my improvements. Again, I approved what I said before - Nintendo world is smaller. I saw the second place person from Nintendo connection tour and some other familiar faces. After a guy who won 9 games in a row, It was my turn to play against him.

I was the one to serve ball. One thing I knew: If I can't serve fast ball, I die. (as most people knew how to directly score when returning a normal serving). After a deuce, Luck came to my side and stayed for about half hour. There were a few very good players, but my skill + luck locked me to the first place - 17 games won in a row.

At the end, they took a photo of me and sent it back to Nintendo with my details. They will post the game to me when it released. They may also post my photo up on Nintendo website.. Again... that would be the 2nd photo on Nintendo website if they do. Now all I need to do is check my mailbox everyday

Port Stephen

Peach came over for holiday last weekend. We have well planned the trip to show our pleasure and kindness. We went to port stephen to watch wild dolphins. It usually takes 3-hour driving but we spent about 4 hours due to the stupid GPS system. The GPS was always asking us to turn in the no-turn section or make U turn if possible.

Finally, We arrived in port stephen. Everyone said waaaaaa one after the other. The scene was as beautiful as a painting; The sea was as smooth as a mirror.

(Guess which boat is mine?~~ )

We went to the best fish and chips shop in port stephen for lunch. It's probably the only one. The menu is very simple and unique: fish and chips for one, fish and chips for two,....fish and chips for four.  I'm sure they will list on fish and chips for five and six if they still have room on the menu board. The taste was not bad, it tasted like....fish.

We jumped into the boat after the lunch. Everyone was ready to depart. There wasn't any wind on the sea at all, the boat was just like breaking a big piece of non-frozen jelly. The water was also unexpected clear, I could see the bottom when the sun was strong enough.

"Dolphin! Dolphin!~~ It's there"  We turned our sight to the pointed direction. Oh yeah. It was a dolphin, but too far, too short. Dolphins only came up to breath. I thought the dolphins would jump in front of the boat, but the air and the pretty scene were worth it.

What the hail

This was happened in the quiet afternoon today. I was in the lecture. Suddenly, a deafening thunder scared everyone in the class including the lecturer. It was about 8 seconds long. I initially thought the next door building was collapsed. The sound of heavy rain splash followed with few more thunders, but the raining sound was amazingly loud...

Break time... I lay my tired brain on the table for rest as usual. "It was hailing!!" someone was yelling. What?! I quickly ran out to see what happened. Oh my god! It was really hailing!  This was my first time to see the hail in my whole life! I was so excited.

The ice balls are about 1cm diameter big. That's huge! Well.. come think of it, I should feel lucky that I wasn't on the way to uni when hailing.

Trip to Hobart

I went to Hobart last weekend to celebrate Sammy's graduation. But Sydney was sadly cried before I left. When I arrived at the airport, there wasn't a long queue for check-in, I thought I was lucky that there wouldn't be so many people on my plane.

"The flight has delayed due to the bad weather." Jetstar check-in crew said emotionlessly.
"oh!! What is the new departure time?" I asked.
"It will be depart at 7:00 at this stage, please see the screen for further announcement."
"....." I was disappointed. "Oh..no~~ 2 hours delay."
"You should be gald that the flight hasn't been cancelled." check-in crew said impatiently.
Well, I shouldn't complain about this. It is just another evidence showed that you get what you pay for.

I took out my laptop from the bag for security check. "Oh shit~~" I just realised that I packed my DS and laptop power adapter into the check-in luggage "Stupid me~" I dragged my hopeless brain to the airport cafe afterwards.

(Planes are queuing for take-off)

I suddenly saw few people were surfing the internet with their laptops. It seemed like a streak of lightening acrossed my gloomy brain. I quickly sat down and started searching for wifi spot. Sydney Airport hot spot, Telstra wireless spot and Optus hot spot have been found. Yay.. there are hot spots available in the airport. I was so happy. Then I connected to the airport hot spot. But, I was glad too early, it restricted to airport website only. I tried both Telstra and Optus later, I knew they would charge for the internet, but I was shocked that they charge for $4 per 15 minutes!! That's the same rate when you use Internet Kiosk in the airport. I wasn't that eager to use Internet. I was sure I can find other things to do to endure the 2 hours time.

Yes, I found I have some new Top Gear car program shows in my laptop.
Oh, No~ the show doesn't come with subtitles. Oh No~~ I didn't bring my iPod, so I don't have earphone. Oh, No~~~ No shows for me

All my hope has became hopeless. Well, my only hope was no more delay please. The god seemed heard my last only pray. The dark clouds were slowly dispersed.

(Yay~~ I believe I can fly~~)

The bad luck in the srart hasn't affected my trip in Hobart at all. I did enjoy every moment I have spent in Hobart with friends.  I wish I will see you guys very very soon again.

アテンションプリーズ (Japanese drama: Attention Please)

I saw the trailer of this drama in youtube unwittingly -the story looks interesting, but predictable. I heard some praises for Ueto Aya's good performance in other dramas/movies. I thought maybe this is a good chance to experience her acting performance.

I found the drama was very interesting in the first six episodes, the rest were boring and senseless. It should cut into 7 or 9 episodes drama instead of 11. But I was impressed by Ueto Aya. She well acted the role of Misaki Yoko by her unique exaggerative performance.

Losing her mother at a young age, Misaki Yoko (Ueto Aya) was raised amongst three brothers. Yoko is a slightly boyish girl who is bullheaded and hates dishonesty. Ever since she was young, she enjoyed the company of boys over girls. She starts a band with four of her boy friends and becomes the lead singer. Then one day, one of the members of the band, Tsukasa, gets a job at a bank in Tokyo. Due to Tsukasa leaving town, the band breaks up and though Yoko finds herself lonely, she puts on a strong act in front of Tsukasa. She can't tell Tsukasa how she truly feels for him. On the day Tsukasa leaves for Tokyo, Yoko goes along with the band members to the airport to see him off. The guys get excited when they see some cabin crew ladies and Yoko has no idea why. She reminds them that even she can wear a uniform, but the guys only make fun of her. That's when Tsukasa tells Yoko he wonders what she'd look like dressed in uniform. This is when Yoko decides she wants to work as a Cabin Attendant...

A holiday for food

My friend Donna and her boyfriend JJ came to Sydney for holiday last week. JJ had not been to Sydney before and Donna only came a few times. So I volunteered to be their tour guide.

They arrived around 8 in the morning. The moment they arrived, Donna was already crying for help.

"I'm hungry, we didn't eat anything before we got on the plane so that we can eat in Sydney."

"Ohh!" I thought to myself. "So they came here for the nice food."

There are hundreds of good restaurants throughout Sydney. But I couldn't think of any good place to eat at such early time except cafe. I am normally dreaming at this time of the day.

At 9am, we realised there won't be any restaurant opened. And neither do we want to eat at cafes because we wanted to eat something unique to Sydney. Reluctant to make a compromise, we headed off to Chinatown, Darling Harbour and then visited Sydney Aquarium. There were so much but our minds were on food all the time. We were all hungry.

"What do you want to eat?" I asked, as my craving for food kicked in."Seafood? Japanese? Korean? Thai?"

Donna thought for a while. She wanted to have Korean BBQ.

I rang my food hotline Felix. He suggested Suminoya, which is the sister restaurant of Rengaya. Rengaya is located in North Sydney while  Suminoya is located in the heart of Sydney CBD.

We picked their popular BBQ buffet menu which came nine cuts of meats and seafood. We also ordered entrees and Korean bibimbap in addition to our buffet.

Entrees:

Salmon Carpaccio

Fresh beef carpaccio

We had carpaccios, salmon with avocado sauce, and beef with Japanese shoyu sauce. The Beef carpaccio is my favorite dish. The beef melted in my mouth and the cheese boosted its flavor. For the barbeque, I thought the beef tongue and the marinated beef loin were the best. We enjoyed the food quite a lot, but the smoke was a bit annoying. We rushed out as more people and more smokes came out.

Quick!~ Burn!~ We are hungry~

After a very satisfying meal, we headed towards the Opera House and the Botanical Garden for photos. Following that, we went to watch IMAX in Darling Harbour.

At night, we were hungry again... But our friend Felix has prepared a superb dinner! He made: Creamy Tuna Vol-au-Vents, Cheesy Naan, Japanese Beef Roll, Pork Rib Stewed in Sauerkraut, Chestnut Chicken and Stuffed Chieh-Qua. They were all nice as usual . But I was really impressed by the new dessert -Guava Ice Cream Crepe With Stained Glass Sauce. The colors, the taste, they were all perfectly matched. The different fruit flavours went so well together with the ice cream inside the soft velvety crepe.

The next day,, we went to Balmoral bay for lunch. Thanks to our guide Eriko, we had a nice and looong walk to the restaurant -Bather's Pavilion (another highly ranking restaurants in Sydney). As for lunch, we had a light lunch of bread, pizzas, risotto and mussels cooked in white wine.

Balmoral Bay

It was a short trip for both Donna and JJ which lasted merely 2 days. I could have taken them to more scrumptious food if only they stayed longer. I hope they enjoyed Sydney and the food. But for now, I hope they enjoyed their little gourmet tour in Sydney.

World Cup Emblem & Mascot

An emblem is the a symbol for an organisation, it represents an idea. it is easy to be memorised. The emblem is a crucial part of a major sporting event. It should be instantly recognisable, appearing as it does on all publications, at associated events and on merchandising. Before the event itself even kicks off, the logo is the bridge between the organisers and the public.

The Germany World Cup emblem represents joy, elation and emotion. The outstanding design for Korean/Japan World Cup emblem reappears on the logo. And it might appear in all future world cup emblems. The design is simple, neat and easy to understand. I quite like this logo.

In addition to the emblem, there is the official mascot. The design is very different, probably the ugliest mascot ever. The outstanding design of France World Cup 1998 mascot -  Footix, which is a blue cockerel holding a football; and design of Korea/Japan World Cup 2002 mascot - Ato, Kaz and Nik, which are Orange, purple and blue respectively, looks futuristic, cute and creative. Both of the mascots gained appreciation and praises from people around the world.

But the mascot this time, Goleo VI, is  a half naked lion wearing a Germany jersey with the number 06 and a talking football named Pille. I think they were trying to personify and make the lion to be cute. They failed obviously. The soccer ball just looks purely weird.

World Cup 2010 will be held in one of the African countries. I hope they will create something better next time.

World Cup vs. Exam

Why?! Why the world cup is always start at the right beginning of the exams??!   However, anything couldn't resist me to watch it. and it became another 'proper' excuse for rest during my studies...

Germany world cup began with a short opening ceremony in June 9th. Millions of soccer fans went to Germany to cheer for their teams while I was trying to memorise those useless theories.

The teams I support:
Australia - finally came back to World cup finals again in 32 years time. Every Australian became soccer fan to support Socceroos, as a person who stayed in Australia for almost 7 years, I will definitely support Aussie.
England - probably the team owns the most female fans in all 32 teams as David Beckham is still there~ Well, As long as Owen is there, I will support it.
Germany - another possible champion team apart from Brazil. As the host of the game with great players, I'm looking forward to see Germany win.
Italy - The all star team that I supports since I know soccer.

After semi final teams came out, two of my support teams are in, but they are facing each other in the next match

However, Australia performed surprisely great in all the matches. The spirit of fearless expressed on every player in the team. Even in the match against Italy, I was surprised that I support Australia rather than the team that I like always. Unfortunetely, Australia lost by the soft penalty in the last minute, It's sad, but Australia lost with honor, Italy won with luck. I'm sure socceroos will do better in 2010 World cup.

Exams are now all finished, I can enjoy the rest of brilliant matches. I guess Germany will against France in the final and Germany will win at last. We will see. Any one wants to bet with me?

New Super Mario Bros.

You should feel lucky if you got a DS, other than those people who is carrying a cool shape but useless PSP that showing off their movies or the games that you have already finished in PC. However, you should be shamed if you haven't or will not get a copy of the New Super Mario Bros. (NSMB)

The New Super Mario Bros. is just released yesterday in Australia. A BIG Thanks goes to Felix who rushed to get a copy for me from Ebgames as DS games sells crazy these days.

NSMB could be the next best selling hand-held game for a few month i think. Because it's sooo good. I can't resist to play it even exam is coming up

The New Super Mario Bros. still inherits the original 2-D platform with some new features, including all-new power-ups like the Blue Shell, in which Mario can ride, and a massive Mushroom that makes him ultra-huge. New and familiar enemies are everywhere, not to mention mind-blowing challenges made possible by the dual screens of the Nintendo DS. All new Mario vs. Luigi in 2-player game and also other mini-games support up to 4 players.

The single player mode is needless to say how great it is. If you have another friend with DS, try Mario vs. Luigi or mini-games, I'm sure you will find lots of fun there too.

If you haven't made your decision, you might find some useful helps in the official website and those gaming review websites such as IGN and Gamespot, where they gave a high rating of 9.5 and 9.0 out of 10.
